Denise Lammers, 60, of Custer, SD passed away on December 17, 2015 at Custer Regional Hospital.

Denise was born on August 31, 1955, in Rapid City, SD, to Gordon and Betty Wicks. She grew up in Rapid City, graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1973, and worked as a surgical technician at St. John’s Hospital in Rapid City shortly thereafter. In 1975, she met the love of her life, Dr. Tony Lammers. Together, they raised two daughters and built a successful chiropractic practice in Custer, SD, where they worked side-by-side for nearly forty years. Tony and Denise celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year.

Denise was a selfless, loving person who spent her days brightening the lives of others with genuine smiles, heart hugs, fun-loving humor, and a contagious laugh. The cookies, pfeffernuts, pumpkin muffins, and caramel rolls she shared were a special treat to all. Denise was a gentle soul who cared deeply for others. She loved children and animals, welcoming any who showed up on her doorstep. Denise was devoted to her family and friends; there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to help someone who needed her.

She loved music, baking, spending time at the cabin at Angostura, boating and fishing, four-wheeling in the back woods, driving through the hills with the car club, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Denise is survived by her husband, Tony of Custer; daughter, Tori (Cory) Lewis and granddaughters, Ashlynn and Megan of Rapid City; daughter, Jessica Krebs and grandsons, Landon and Michael of Louisville, KY; her parents, Gordon and Betty Wicks of Rapid City; her sister, Renee (Dave) Parker of Rapid City; brother, Todd (Cindy) Wicks of Rapid City; and sister, Tonya (Rich) Tuley of Parker, CO; her brothers-in law, Tracy (Kayleen) Lammers of Sioux Falls and Tim (Vicki) Lammers of Boyden, IA; her nephews, Dana and Casey Parker, Cody, Justin, and Phil Lammers, Tyler Wysocki; and nieces, Tera Knopp, Melissa Dittman, Tara Miller, Mariah Lammers, Kristen Kenner, Kelly DeLange, and Laura Wysocki; as well as many other children who considered her a mom and grandma over the years.
