CHESAPEAKE, Va. | Dale R. Halverson, 57, went to join his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 15, 2012. He died peacefully after an 11-month battle with cancer.
Dale was born May 24, 1955, in Veblen, South Dakota. He served for 10 years in the U.S. Navy spending one year in Iraq during Operation Freedom. He worked 34 years for Verizon until his retirement in June 2012. He loved NASCAR and got to meet Richard and Kyle Petty. He faithfully followed the Seattle Seahawks football team.
Dale is survived by his wife of 17 years,and stepson, 2 sons,his father, brother and sister.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Rae (Sandquist) Halverson.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 21, at Hollowman-Brown Funeral Home Indian River Chapel in Cheasapeake. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis at a later date.
