Rhonda Yvonne (Zellner) Moore
November 6, 1954 - October 20, 2023
Rapid City – Rhonda Moore, 68, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at her home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. Rhonda Yvonne Zellner was born on November 6, 1954, in Sisseton, South Dakota, to Warner James and Lillian Matilda (Duwenhoegger) Zellner. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Rapid City, SD, where she attended school and grew to adulthood. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1973, and then attended and graduated from Green’s Beauty School. She worked as a beautician at the Eighth Street Walk-In Salon before starting a career working in the jewelry manufacturing industry. Over the years, she’d become skilled in wax inspecting, tacking, soldering, wriggling, and engraving jewelry. She loved kids and always found joy in babysitting as many as she could. Rhonda always worked hard and tirelessly so her family could have a good life.
On October 31, 1974, she met Terry Moore while on her way to a Halloween party with friends. They married on November 8, 1975, in Rapid City, a year after the anniversary of their first date.
Rhonda was a very active person who loved life and her family. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. Rhonda enjoyed softball, golfing, bowling, and dancing. When a favorite song of hers played at Chevy’s Lounge, she’d have Terry or the nearest friend out on the dance floor with her.
Rhonda was a very religious and faithful Catholic. Her devotion to her faith has been a great comfort to her and her loved ones in times of difficulty over these last few years. While she will be forever missed, her family knows she is now home and free.
She is survived by her husband Terry Moore of Rapid City; three sons: Matthew (Jennifer) Moore, Casey Moore, and Christopher (Jennifer) Moore, all of Rapid City; two daughters: Leslee Moore of Rapid City and Elizabeth (Daniel) Wood of Laramie, WY; five grandchildren: Apollo Moore, Scarlett Moore, and Desmond Moore, all of Rapid City, and Clara Wood and Abigail Wood of Laramie, WY; mother Lillian Sailer of Rapid City; one brother Warner Zellner, Jr., of Rapid City; one step-brother Jerry (Crystal) Sailer, Jr., of Rapid City; three sisters: Marjorie (Tim) Anderson, Jeannie (Bob) Engel, and Brenda (Mike) Kassis, all of Rapid City; one sister-in-law Laurel Mathieson of Sarasota, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
